There was a band back in the 90's?

They had an almost metal sound and almost sounded industrial, the
vocals were sung, but almost spoken word they were so monotone. male
vox, baritone or low tenor long and drawn. Fast drums i remember, and
i think they were kinda popular. I heard them back in 95 i think.
very morose almost depressing. i didnt hear them again until i was in
a car with a friend in '01, and i remember hearing the name and
thinking "that's who this is!?" because the name was similar to
another band that was popular (and i was NOT a fan of). i thought it
was ministry or sister machine gun... but definitely not. the vocals
seemed to draw an ethereal quality to the music... but i cannot find
them! any suggestions please!!!!!! I'm going mad!
no idea the name of the band with the similar name... i've seriously
been at this for hours and hours... trying to remember where i
actually first heard them... no idea... a soundtrack to an action
movie around that time i think... been on amg looking up industrial
metal/ goth industrial/ dark metal/ dark techno/, been on bilboard
sites, looking up everything... and i know i'm going to feel like an
idiot when someone gives me an answer.
