Trio of photos top Golden Reels
"Super 8," "Hugo" and "The Adventures of Tintin" required top honors Sunday in the Movie Seem Editors 59th annual Golden Reel Honours, held in the Westin Bonaventure in downtown La.T.T. Abrams' "Super 8" won for the best seem editing: dialogue and ADR, while Martin Scorsese's ode to filmmaking "Hugo" won a music seem editing award. Steven Spielberg's motion-capture adventure "Tintin" seemed to be honored within the animated feature seem editing category.Spielberg's other large release this season, "War Equine," won for editing of seem effects and foley.Scorsese also saw a couple of his projects get honored. The Carrie Diaries Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, a younger Carrie Bradshaw steps into the limelight as she comes of age in the '80s, asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan. Bushnell will executive-produce alongside Gossip Girl duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Len Goldstein and Sex and the City writer Amy Harris.Stefania Owen will co-star. Cult After a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, an inquisitive, young female production assistant (Melrose Place reboot star Jessica Lucas) on a wildly popular television show called Cult joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program in real life. Rockne O'Bannon will write and executive-produce alongside Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. Alona Tal will also star. First Cut Glad to leave her nerdy past behind for a fresh start in the adult professional world, a newly minted doctor discovers that, sadly and comically, life at the hospital where she works is no different than high school. Gilmore Girls' Jennie Snyder Urman will write and executive-produce with Pushing Daisies' Dan Jinks. Joey Dakota In this time-travel musical based on the Israeli series Danny Hollywood, a documentary filmmaker travels back to the 1990s, where she meets and falls in love with the rock star who is the subject of her film. When she unexpectedly returns to the present, she must find her way back to the past to reunite with him and prevent his untimely death. NCIS' Mark Harmon executive-produces with Kim and Eric Tannenbaum. Bert Royal (Easy A) wrote the script. The Selection The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor in this project based on the upcoming book series by Kiera Cass. An epic romance set 300 years in the future, a poor, young woman is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads. The Vampire Diaries' Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain will write and executive-produce. Shelter The new and returning staff at a historic New England summer resort attend to the needs of the guests while navigating their own friendships, rivalries and romances. J.J. LONDON -- TrustNordisk has inked several distribution deals for Nikolaj Arcel's "A Royal Affair," which world preems Thursday in competish at the Berlin Film Festival. The latest distrib pacts take the total to almost 30 countries. Coming on board at the European Film Market were Japan's New Select Co., Russia's Volga Film, Taiwan's Cineplex and Latin America's LAP TV. The pic has already been acquired by distribs in all the major English-language territories, including Magnolia (U.S.), Madman (Australia/New Zealand), Metrodome (U.K./Ireland), and has also secured theatrical releases across Europe, including in Germany (MFA), Austria (Filmladen), Benelux (Wild Bunch), Spain (Golem), Elite Film (Switzerland), Poland (Best Film), Slovakia and Czech Rep. (AeroFilms), Estonia (Estin Film), Romania (Independenta Film '97), former Yugoslavia (Cinemania) and Lithuania (Scanorama). Other deals include Turkey (Calinos Ent.) and China (Lens Media). Directed by Nikolaj Arcel and starring Mads Mikkelsen, Alicia Vikander and Mikkel Boe Folsgaard, the pic tells the true story of an affair between Johann Struensee, the physician of the Danish king, Christian VII, and the English-born queen of Denmark, Caroline Mathilda, in the early 1770s. U.K., German distribs nab 'Jackpot'
